From doing yoga to hip hop music to combining a tough HIIT workout with your first foray into kick-boxing, enjoying exercise is half the task of keeping up with it.

So if you’re keen to swap your boring gym routine or monotonous 5K round the park for something a little bit more stimulating, we’ve compiled a list of the five most intriguing – and results-driven – workouts on the block (after all, there’s only so many times you can still get excited about seeing the same dog on its daily walk).

Whether you’re a beginner to the entire exercise world and wondering where to start or seasoned fitness buff, there’s something for everyone to help keep your mind and body healthy.

Plus, one of the big benefits of doing something a little more unusual rather than an over-subscribed spin class at your local gym is that the instructors are usually a bit more friendly, thanks to smaller classes and business spreading by word of mouth.

1. F45

F45 started off in Australia – and is now making waves in Britain

Mark Wahlberg has invested in it, and Nicole Richie and Binky Felstead are apparently big fans, if you want to make sure you’re utilising every second of your workout, it supposedly doesn’t get much better than F45.

Mostly known for their seven week challenges, the F45 concept combines HIIT and strength training to target fat loss and help to build and maintain lean muscle mass.

 

2. Flykick

Great for all levels of experience

A great one for beginners – as well as seasoned pros, of course! – this is a kick-boxing inspired group class, that combines HIIT body weight exercises, stretching and kickboxing in a high-energy environment.

As well as keeping things interesting by constantly changing up the exercise, FlyKick also claims the trio of workouts is also a winning formula when it comes to maximising results. Either way, it’s a fun way to get moving and your body will feel the pain for days after.

3. CandleLit Hip Hop Yoga

Yoga – but with a big difference

Whilst it might sound like the most relaxing exercise class out there, the hip hop playlist in the background means that you’re bound to work up a sweat and release some energy.

Fast paced with challenging poses and lots of positive energy, this is a unique class from FLY that promises a dynamic and challenging hour of training to help you shake off the week.

4. Pace

It’s not easy – but it’s definitely worth it

Inspired by the London marathon, Pace is a 50-minute treadmill based session at Sweat It London, that aims to test your endurance, stamina, speed and most of all your mental toughness.

Focusing on a different body part a day, the high intensity group fitness classes are great way for fitness fanatics that usually run alone to mix things up, comprising of a group glass with 50% cardio and 50% strength and very conscientious instructors.

5. Raw Pilates

Choose between group sessions, duos or one to one

Classic pilates with a holistic feel, this is essentially the opposite of a HIIT session, Raw pilates helps to condition and tone your body.

Offering a combination of tower and reformer classes that focus on core strength, this is a great way for beginners to get excited about exercise – or for fitness fanatics to refine their mind, body and technique.
