The UK’s worst street for broadband has been revealed, where average downloaded speeds are 800 times slower than on the fastest street.

Kingsclere, Huntington in York, has average speeds of just 0.22Mbps – 830 times slower than Darwin Street, Livingston, which boasts average speeds of 182.52Mbps.

New research by uSwitch.com has highlighted the huge difference in download speeds for people across the UK – scroll down for the full list.

uSwitch looked at 122,845 ‘real world’ speed tests, and found that residents on Kingsclere experienced the worst download speeds.

On the street, it would take more than 65 hours to download a two-hour BD film on Netflix , and at least 24 hours to download a 45-minute HD TV programme!

In contrast, on Darwin Street, it would take less than five minutes to download the same film, and less than two minutes to download the same TV programme.

Worryingly, the research revealed that almost a fifth of all broadband users regularly experience speeds of less than 10Mbps, while 9% struggle with speeds of less than 5Mbps.

However, at the other end of the spectrum, 38% of broadband users now get speeds of more than 30Mbps – up from 22% in 2015.

Dani Warner, broadband expert at uSwitch.com, said: “Our research reveals the digital divide running through Britain. Residents living on one side of a city can be struggling with broadband as slow as molasses, while people just miles away are enjoying ultrafast speeds.

“Lack of awareness regarding superfast broadband is one of the biggest obstacles stopping people from getting faster download speeds.”
