Instax has launched a new hybrid camera and it’s packed full of features, including the ability to send sound.
The instax mini LiPlay, is a new generation hybrid instant camera, which is also their smallest and most lightweight instant camera in the brand’s history.
Instax say “the instax mini LiPlay’s unique innovations make capturing and creating real photos of special life moments more creative and fun than ever before” – and it’s easy to see why.
The new camera includes the ability to add sound, by adding a voice message or personalised audio to a photograph via a unique QR code embedded in the instant instax mini print, a direct print function where images can be printed from a smartphone via Bluetooth, remote shooting function which can be viewed on a smartphone, and jazzy frame designs, with ten pre-installed designs on the camera, and 20 on the app – just like real life Snapchat filters.
It comes in three unique colourways; Stone White, Elegant Black and Blush Gold and is priced at £149.99 , making it a lot of fun for a little price.
Karina Thomsen, Head of Marketing, Photo Imaging, said: “We’re excited to bring this innovative product to the UK and finally reveal the instax mini LiPlay after much anticipation. The smallest and lightest hybrid instant camera within the instax series, instax mini LiPlay combines some of the best and most popular features from the instax family. We have added some exciting new innovative elements that will really allow people to capture their life in a fun, creative way.
“From a new sound function, to direct print from your smartphone. We look forward to seeing everyone’s reactions and how the instax mini LiPlay will come to life.”
But how does it shape up?
The camera itself is sturdy and a good size, and is great for taking out and about as many of us will be able to use it one handed, and it’ll fit in small day bags – within reason.
Whilst the materials could feel a bit more elegant, this would mean that the price would increase, and at £149.99 it’s not too expensive, and good value for the tech you’re getting as you’re buying a digital camera, and portable photo printer.
The app works brilliantly alongside the camera, and you can easily and edit the photos, even adding the sound is easy – however listening back is lumbersome as you have to have the app installed to scan the code. It is a bit of a gimic, but for gigs, and personal messages it’s a nice touch.
The best feature is the fact you can take multiple photos and then choose which one to print. Whilst this does lose some of the spontaneity of the original Instax premise, you can select them or wait until you’re home to print. It felt like i had a lot more options, and as it works just like a normal Instax, printing is super simple – it just comes out the top of the camera.
If you’re looking for a hybrid instant camera, this one has everything you could need, and at an affordable price.
