Lockdown might have eased, but the global coronavirus pandemic is still ongoing and continues to impact many lives.

New cases are emerging each day, but one person’s positive test result has caused a bit of a stir recently.

An American social media influencer has revealed that she had tested positive for Covid-19 and has been suffering at home with symptoms.

Danielle Bernstein, the founder of WeWoreWhat shared her scary experience with her 2.5 million followers in her Instagram stories over the weekend.

She wrote: “I woke up without my sense of taste and smell.

“My body is extremely sore, particularly my hips and legs … trying to stay hydrated and just take Tylenol.”

Numerous followers were quick to do the polite thing and wish her well and send messages of support.

However not everyone was quite so kind to the young woman when it came to her health.

Instead, some shamed Bernstein for revealing her positive test and blamed her for going on holiday to the Hamptons during the summer, which they deemed to be rather “irresponsible”.

One person commented: “Of course Danielle Bernstein tested positive for COVID.”

Another replied: “Danielle Bernstein tested positive for  coronavirus after an entire summer of being irresponsible in the Hamptons. Interesting.”

Others criticised her for continuing to post on social media while unwell, with someone else writing: “Look I hope you get better and feel better but I think you should really take a break from social for a bit to focus on yourself. Having COVID-19 isn’t the time to be taking photoshoots on the couch in different cute outfits…”

Following the backlash, the influencer responded by admitting she could have been more careful while away, but stated that she had followed the current coronavirus health and safety guidelines during her trip.

“Small groups, dining out, all of it is currently allowed. Guidelines are there to help us, but they are clearly not bulletproof,” she said.

“Of course I could have been more careful and still got it … the virus is still very much here and I will be taking it even more seriously going forward.”
