Five transfers that could be completed this week, including Emiliano Martinez departure from Arsenal and Edouard Mendy joining Chelsea

The Premier League season kicked off this weekend with plenty of new signings in action.

Arsenal debutants Willian and Gabriel shined in their 3-0 win over Fulham, while Newcastle had new players Callum Wilson and Jeff Hendrick to thank for their opening day victory over West Ham.

There is still plenty of time for clubs to sign players, though, with the transfer window not closing until October 5.

Expect there to be movement in the market this week and here, talkSPORT.com looks at the five deals that could get over the line soon.

Emiliano Martinez (Arsenal to Aston Villa)

The Arsenal goalkeeper underwent his medical at Aston Villa over the weekend ahead of a £20million move.

He was left out of the Gunners’ matchday squad for the Premier League opener against Fulham.

Arteta is reluctant to let Martinez go having seen him thrive when called on during Bernd Leno’s injury lay-off.

This move is likely to be completed today while Arsenal are looking at Brentford’s David Raya as a replacement.

Bertrand Traore (Lille to Aston Villa)

Another move for Aston Villa as they have agreed a £17million deal, plus £2million in add-ons, with Lille for the attacking midfielder.

Villa assistant John Terry knows Traore well from his time at Chelsea, where he spent four years between 2013 and 2017.

Sky Sports report the fee has been agreed and he will have his medical abroad today.

The midlands club then plan to fly him to Birmingham on Wednesday in order to complete the move.

Edouard Mendy (Rennes to Chelsea)

Chelsea agreed a deal with Rennes for the goalkeeper on Friday and it is believed he flew to London to complete his medical.

The fee is believed to be in the region of £20million and he will be competing with Kepa Arrizabalaga for a starting place rather than a straight replacement.

The move is said to be ‘almost done’ and is expected to be announced any day now.

Branislav Ivanovic (unattached to West Brom)

The veteran defender is set to join newly-promoted West Brom after leaving Zenit St Petersburg.

Baggies boss Slaven Bilic thought the deal had already been done and was expecting him in training.

Speaking after their 3-0 defeat to Leicester, Bilic said: “As far as I know, it was done yesterday I think.

“I expect him to be here tomorrow but I don’t know what happened in the last 24 hours.”

West Brom are yet to announce the deal for the 36-year-old to join.

Fikayo Tomori (Chelsea to Everton)

The centre-back has been linked with a loan move to Everton from Chelsea but has not been completed yet.

Frank Lampard played down the move in his press conference.

He said: “I’m not aware of those conversations getting to a point where I will be talking about them.

“He trained today and is in contention for Brighton.”

Everton are said to be working on a deal, but no agreement has been struck with Chelsea just yet.

There could be some movement this week, so is one to keep an eye on.
