Conor McGregor tweet suggests UFC comeback as Khamzat Chimaev calls out the Notorious, Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal

Conor McGregor suggested he may be ready to return to the octagon – and he could fight Khamzat Chimaev.

The Notorious announced his retirement from mixed martial arts for a third time in four years in June, insisting ‘the game’ no longer excited him.

“All this waiting around. There’s nothing happening. I’m going through opponent options, and there’s nothing really there at the minute. There’s nothing that’s exciting me.”

He added: “There’s just no buzz for me. I had my goals, my plans, the season. I had everything laid out.

“Obviously the world has gone bleeding bonkers at the minute. There’s f*** all happening at the minute.

“They want to throw me up and down weights and offer me stupid fights. I don’t really give a f***. I’m over it.”

However, on Thursday night, the Irish fighter wrote on Twitter: “I accept.” Could this mean a comeback is on the cards?

The tweet could be in reference to Chimaev’s post on the social media site where he called out some of the top UFC names.

He wrote: “I’m getting bored, please @danawhite give me @NateDiaz209 @GamebredFighter @TheNotoriousMMA same night. I can smash all these guys… I’m not cocky guy I’m just confident. I understand if they don’t want to fight me.”

Chimaev even claimed he flew to Ireland in 2018 in an attempt to ‘beat up’ McGregor, only to be detained by police.

The UFC welterweight, who fights out of Sweden, is perhaps one of the brightest prospects on the roster and underlined his potential on Fight Island with two stellar performances, fighting twice in 10 days.

And the 8-0 sensation reveals how he attempted to claim justice for Khabib Nurmagomedov right before UFC 229 two years ago.

“At that time, I was fighting as an amateur or a pro record of 1-0 when that happened,” the Stockholm resident told Russian freelance reporter Adam Zubayraev.

“It is that time when he insulted Khabib, and he also was talking about Zubaira [Tukhugov].

“At that time, nobody knew who I was. He was also talking about another guy who’s also Chechen. I don’t remember his name, but he told us he knocked him out in a sparring session.

“My mind was blowing up at the moment, but I’m living here very close to him. I was thinking that I would catch him in the streets or at the gym and beat him up. This is what he deserved.”
