Dana White admitted he had to make a frantic call to Conor McGregor before the main event of UFC 246.

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman reportedly had his Twitter account hacked before the Irishman made his way to the T-Mobile Arena to face Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.

But McGregor could have been forgiven for being distracted as a series of unsavoury Tweets came from Usman’s account.

The first read, ‘Let’s be real, my man [Conor McGregor] is a f****** Irish punk who won’t be winning today’, which seemed out of place given Usman’s composed demeanour.

Subsequent tweets then took aim at the Dubliner and his family – including partner Dee Devlin – making it clear Usman’s account had been hacked – something later confirmed by his team.

They read: “Conor McGregor is a Irish pussy, n**** I’ll f*** your wife while slapping the f*** outta you punk.

“I’ll be raw dogging the f*** outta [McGregor’s] wife on gang n****.”

White admitted he had to call ‘The Notorious’ in order to make sure he did not retaliate.

White said: “I phoned Conor and said don’t do anything, don’t react.

“Usman and [manager] Ali [Abdelaziz] were sitting right in front of where Conor came out. The first thing I did was to tell Conor – he didn’t believe he was hacked.

“They put his bank account and his pin out there, that’s crazy s***.”

McGregor had not fought since losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018 but wasted little time in settling into his stride against Cerrone, an opponent with the most wins (23) and finishes (16) in UFC history.

Several unorthodox shoulder strikes in a clinch bloodied Cerrone’s nose before a precision head kick and flying knee proved to be the beginning of the end as McGregor rained down punches on his helpless opponent.

Referee Herb Dean stepped in to wave the contest off inside the opening minute as McGregor claimed his first win in more than three years in a welterweight division where he has little experience.

‘The Notorious’ was ‘sceptical’ of ‘f***weasel’ Usman’s claims that he was hacked.

McGregor said: “I am sceptical of that. One came through early and it had all the hallmarks of that f ***  weasel Ali.

“They give him control of the accounts. He gets something and writes it through their thing.

“I’ve been in discussions with these athletes about helping them out and I know what would happen.

“The first one had all the hallmarks of your man who has done it in the past. Dana sent a message to say it had happened but I only saw the first one.

“This has been happening for years, I’ve been dealing with this for a long time.”
